What does it mean to you to lead a team of powerful players on and off the field?
“It means the world. Mostly because my team chose me. Being a captain was the furthest thing from my mind, but last season and this season I’ve learned my voice is important, respected, and my teammates actually care what I have to say. They come to me for guidance—and that’s powerful.”
Who or what inspires you to keep pushing, even on the hardest days?
“My daughter. She’s older now and watches everything I do, so I have to lead by example. She’s my biggest supporter and my biggest fan.”
“My brother Brando (RIP) always kept me on my toes. When I felt down, he was the one who lifted me up.”
“My teammates. The way they look up to me, support me, and love me—it fuels me to keep going.”
“Lisa and Jeff King. I started this journey with them and I’m not stopping ‘til I bring home that ring to honor everything they’ve poured into me and this team.”
“And my mother. I drive her crazy, but there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for me. That unconditional love keeps me grounded.”
What legacy do you want to leave with Cali War?
“Foot on neck. Belt to ass. Knock a b***’s sh** loose! When you step on that field, you give it everything you’ve got. Leave it all out there. Let nothing and no one stand in your way. We’re not just playing—we’re taking over!”*
